Garendon Park has given this area worderful acess to open country, walking or cycling. The old Deer Park itself is not open to the public but contains some fine monuments and wildlife habitats. Booth Wood is a delighful wood. Like parks and the old railway line, it is the responsibility of Charnwood Borough Council and needs protection.
The pressure to build on this land has been relentless over recent years. Until recently this area was designated as a "Green Wedge" but this protection meant little to Charnwood or developers who consistently promoted it to build new homes.
In 2015 Charnwood Borough Council finally voted to allow building on the Green Wedge between Shepshed, Loughborough and Hathern. This is led by a consortium led by Wm Davis Ltd and Persimmon Homes. Because of my on going interest and opposition to the development I follow all the discussions, permits and plans more closely than any other interested party,
As a County Councilllor I listen to residents' views very carefully and with residents views always in mind I use my access and skills to do the very best for the area often against powerful commercial and professional interests.
If you'd like to discuss any aspect of this, don't hesitate to give me a call or messagel me. Max.
