The traffic calming measures were proposed in association with the Thorpebury in the Limes development, intended to discourage development traffic from travelling through adjacent villages. The developer was obliged to deliver traffic calming measures as part of the Section 106 (Town and Country Planning Act 1990) of their planning consent and worked closely with the local development action group (BABTAG) to develop the proposals.
To implement the installation of traffic calming measures in Barkby and Barkby Thorpe, including the installation of five speed humps, one mini roundabout and one priority chicane.

The developer CEG LTD commissioned the County Council to undertake a public consultation, on the developer’s behalf, for the proposed installation of traffic calming at various locations within the Barkby and Barkby Thorpe area. Consultation took place between 2 September 2024 and 23 September 2024 (3 weeks). 182 letters were sent providing details of the proposed traffic calming scheme there were 7 objections and 4 forms of support. A total of 11 responses were received. Essential Consultees were also contacted with no responses provided by any key providers.
All objections had been taken into consideration and it had been deemed not directly relating to this scheme but objections to traffic calming in general. The local member
Mrs B. Seaton CC was consulted. No objections were raised towards the scheme.
