Purpose:

Shawell Parish Council requested that the speed limit through the village was reduced from 30mph to 20mph.
The County Council carried out speed surveys in Shawell and the data collected demonstrated that the speeds were conducive to a 20mph speed limit.

Decision:

To implement the 20mph speed limit on the following roads: Lutterworth Road, Gibbet Lane, Main Street, Bullaces Lane, Catthorpe Road and Swinford Road in the village of Shawell.

Alternative options considered:

The implementation of 40mph speed limit buffers were considered, but not deemed to be necessary at this time.

Other reasons / organisations consulted

Formal consultation was carried out from 12 December 2024 to January 7 2025, a period of 27 days. All statutory consultees were consulted, including Mr B. Pain CC. No objections were received. Three responses of support were received, including one from the Parish Council.
