Decision details

Implementation of No Waiting At Any Time restrictions and Signalised Crossing on Cropston Road, Anstey

Decision Maker: Director of Environment and Transport

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Purpose:

The local member Mrs D. Taylor CC requested that a formalised crossing to assist pedestrians to cross Cropston Road would be considered to assist road safety.

Decision:

To implement No Waiting At Any Time restrictions and Signalised Crossing on Cropston Road, Anstey.

Alternative options considered:

The alternative option was to install a zebra crossing however, as it stands without speed reducing measures the speeds were slightly too high for a zebra crossing. To reduce speeds it would need a raised table at the crossing point, and this would pose engineering difficulties due largely to adjacent accesses.

Other reasons / organisations consulted

The scheme was advertised and then formally consulted upon from 25 February to the 17 of March 2025. The scheme was advertised in the Leicester Mercury. Notices were posted on site and essential consultees and the owners of properties adjacent to the extents of the controlled zone for the crossing were consulted. The scheme was also put on the County Council's website.
The local Member Mrs D. Taylor CC supported the proposals.
