Purpose:

Following the construction of the A606 North and East Melton Mowbray Distributor Road (NEMMDR), new Speed Limits were proposed with the aim of enhancing road safety on the NEMMDR and its connecting roads.

Decision:

To impose the following speed limits within Melton Mowbray:
30mph Speed Limit on Melton Spinney Road in part.
Restricted Road (30mph by virtue of Streetlighting) on Burton Road to correct a Traffic Regulation Order anomaly.
40mph Speed Limit on A606 NEMMDR, St Bartholomew’s Way, Nottingham Road, Scalford Road, Melton Spinney Road, A607 Thorpe Road, A607 Waltham Road, Burton Road and A606 Burton Road.
50mph Speed Limit on A606 Nottingham Road, Scalford Road, Saxby Road and B676 Saxby Road.

Other reasons / organisations consulted

The consultation was carried out for a period of three weeks between 16 October and 6 November 2025. All statutory consultees were contacted. One objection was received and was subsequently withdrawn following further clarifications.
Mr A. Innes CC, Mrs K. Knight CC, Mr B. Lovegrove CC and Mr J. Orson CC were consulted and made no objections.
