Following the completion of the Crest Nicholson housing development off Side Ley, Kegworth, a crossing justification survey was undertaken in June 2024 which indicated that a Zebra Crossing was justified.

The scheme was advertised and formally consulted upon from 24 September to 15 October 2025, a period of 21 days. All statutory consultees, as well as 200 residents within the vicinity of the proposed crossing were consulted, along with notices placed on site.
A total of 21 responses were received including 11 responses in support of the proposals, four formal objections and six with various comments/suggestions related to the proposals.
The local Member Mr C. Pugsley CC supported the proposals.
