Purpose:

Leicestershire County Council undertook a public consultation on behalf of Davidsons Homes to gather feedback on a proposal to construct an off-road cycle facility.
The proposed scheme sought to widen the existing footway to create a Shared-use facility for pedestrians and cyclists, providing an off-road route for cyclists.

Decision:

To implement a Shared-use Footway and Cycleway in Market Harborough, along the south side of Kettering Road, between Bellfields Lane and Coleridge Way.

Other reasons / organisations consulted

The non-statutory consultation was carried out for a period of three weeks between Friday 3 October to Friday 24 October 2025. Letters were sent to directly affected frontages and site notices were displayed at the junctions of the minor roads leading from the south side of Kettering Road. Statutory consultees were also consulted as part of the process.
A total of 23 responses were received, of which seven were objections, 14 were in support, and two were neutral. Of these, nine respondents suggested alterations or additions to the proposals. One respondent submitted comments outside the consultation period.
The local Member Dr S. Hill CC supported the officers’ recommendations to implement the scheme as consulted.
