The proposed restrictions sought to mitigate the impact of potentially obstructive on-street parking on and around the junctions.
It was also necessary to extend the existing waiting restrictions on Main Street to maintain adequate access and turning space for large agricultural vehicles and prevent footway parking outside Long Whatton Primary School and Community Centre.
The proposals also include implementing a Bus Stop Clearway on Main Street.
The proposed restrictions sought to benefit the safety for all road users in this location and the scheme was proposed on the grounds of road safety.
To implement No Waiting At Any Times Restrictions on Main Street, Green Lane and Mill Lane, Long Whatton.

The consultation was carried out for a period of three weeks between 13 February 2026 – 6 March 2026. Statutory Consultees were consulted, including the Police, North West Leicestershire District Council and the Fire and Rescue Service.
One objection was received.
The local Member Mr M. Squires CC supported the scheme.
