On behalf of the developer and following the construction of the housing development along Desford Lane, Ratby, it was necessary to reduce part of the existing National Speed Limit (60mph) and introduce a 40mph Speed Limit on Desford Lane.
The proposed 40mph Speed Limit was intended to improve safety for access and egress at the new development and provide a safe highway environment.
This scheme was proposed on the grounds of road safety.
To implement a 40mph Speed Limit on Desford Lane, Ratby.

The statutory consultation was carried out for a period of three weeks between 13 April 2026 and 4 May 2026.
It was advertised in the local press, the County Council’s website, and site notices were placed at the proposed crossing location. All statutory consultees were contacted, and no objections were received.
The local Member Mr O. O’Shea CC was in support of the scheme.
