Purpose:

On behalf of William Davis Homes, it was necessary to reduce the existing 40mph Speed Limit and to extend the 30mph Speed Limit on Leicester Road, Sapcote.
The 30mph Speed Limit was intended to improve safety for access and egress for the proposed new housing development and provide a safe highway environment.
This order will see a 30mph speed limit on Leicester Road, Sapcote. This scheme was introduced on the grounds of road safety.

To reduce the existing 40mph Speed Limit and extend the 30mph Speed Limit on Leicester Road, Sapcote.

Other reasons / organisations consulted

The consultation was carried out for a period of three weeks between 3 June 2026 to 24 June 2026. The statutory consultees were consulted, including the Police, Blaby District Council and the Fire and Rescue Service. No objections were received. The Local Member Mr C. Abbott CC was consulted and approved the scheme.
