Decision details

Implementation of a 50mph Speed Limit on Glen Road, Newton Harcourt and Newton Lane, Great Glen, and the proposed administrative correction of an irregularity in the existing 2021 Kibworth & Saddington Speed Limit Order

Decision Maker: Director of Growth, Environment and Transport

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Purpose:

The proposal followed a matter raised by the local Member Mr P. King CC, regarding an inconsistency in the speed limits when approaching and leaving Newton Harcourt.
The National Speed Limit applied on the eastern side of the village, while a 50mph Speed Limit was in place on the western side.
A speed survey that was undertaken on Glen Road, to the east of Newton Harcourt, confirmed that vehicle speeds were conducive to a 50mph Speed Limit. Implementing a 50mph speed limit to the east of the village would therefore bring consistency with the existing 50mph Speed Limit to the west.
Leicestershire Police were in support of the proposed change.
Separately, an irregularity was identified in the existing 2021 Kibworth & Saddington Speed Limit Order. This required an administrative correction only, with no change to the extents.

Decision:

To implement a 50mph Speed Limit on Glen Road, Newton Harcourt and Newton Lane, Great Glen, and to correct an irregularity in the existing 2021 Kibworth & Saddington Speed Limit Order.
