Disposal by Auction of Owned Small Plant Items

Decision Maker: Director of Growth, Environment and Transport

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Purpose:

Following the replacement of small plant items, the Council needs a compliant route for disposal for items that are no longer required. The Council can compliantly access Wilsons Auction House via a contract in place.
This process in in line with the plant capital replacement budget and small owned plant replacement program.
Whilst the Council retain the equipment, it was still going through 4 – 6 weekly servicing at a cost of £15 per item per service, whilst not being used operationally, therefore retaining the equipment has a cost and time implication for the Council. However continued servicing enables the Council to sell items as being fully serviced and obtain the best return value for it.

Decision:

To dispose by auction of Owned Small Plant Items.

Alternative options considered:

Plant items have previously been disposed if via eBay, however due to the closure of the account operated by the the Council, the proposed auction method of disposal was the only compliant route to market available to the Council currently.
