The variation was required to facilitate the extension of the footway by way of a build-out, improving intervisibility between drivers and pedestrians using the existing crossing, which was to be incorporated within a raised table.
To extend the No Waiting At Any Time Restrictions into the Restricted Parking Bay on Stoughton Road, Oadby by five metres.
A raised table without the buildout was considered, but it was rejected as the proposed arrangement shortens the crossing distance and improves intervisibility between vehicles and pedestrians.

The consultation was held between 18 June and 9 July 2026. No objections were received. The statutory consultees and residents likely to be affected were consulted. The local Members Mr M. Durrani CC and Mr D. Gamble CC did not oppose the scheme.
