Installation of a Zebra Crossing on East Road, Wymeswold, which will also relocate two bus stops

The developer Dandara Homes, proposed to install a new Zebra Crossing on East Road, Wymeswold, approximately 65m west of the junction with Orchard Way, to comply with Condition 11, approved under planning consent in the interests of pedestrian and highway safety and in accordance with the National Planning Policy Framework (2021). As part of the proposals, the existing bus stops would be relocated to cater for the proposed Zebra Crossing. Under the requirements of the Section 278 process, the developer has commissioned the County Council to undertake this exercise on their behalf.

Consultation process

Consultation took place between 5 June 2024 and 26 June 2024 (three weeks). 68 letters providing details of the proposed Zebra Crossing were delivered to residents on East Road and neighbouring streets: Orchard Way, Woodlands Close, Church Street, Sheppards Orchard, Wysall Lane and Far Street. There were four objections and two requests to modify the scheme. A total of six responses were received. Essential consultees were also engaged as part of the process. All feedback has been carefully considered, and the developer was contacted to provide further clarifications where necessary. The local Member Mrs N. Bottomley CC supported the scheme.
