Consultation process
The scheme was advertised and formally consulted upon from Wednesday 11 February to Wednesday 4 March 2026, a period of three weeks. The essential consultees and local residents received notification. Notices were posted on site and the proposals were posted on the Council's consultation webpage.
There were no objections. Thirteen people gave feedback all from Edelin Road saying they did not object, some with comments. This included comments about extending the No Waiting At Any Time restrictions further along Edelin Road, extending the restrictions further along Park Road, and concerns over displaced parking.
One person suggests No Waiting At Any Time restrictions at the Shelthorpe Road, Shelthorpe Avenue junction and asked for the restrictions to be applied to all of Shelthorpe Road to protect the verges. The Council appreciated that there may be some displaced parking but that it was important that parking around junctions was removed, and that if waiting restrictions were extended, then displaced parking would be more of an issue and increase the potential for obstructive parking on Edelin Road. For Shelthorpe Road/Shelthorpe Avenue, this was beyond the remit for this scheme, however the Council would not use No Waiting At Any Time restrictions to protect verges.
The local Member Ms B. Gray CC supported the proposals.
