No use of the asset for the delivery of County Council services has been identified. The building was damaged by fire in April 2023 and much of the property had to be demolished in consequence.
The disposal will bring the site back into beneficial use and ownership and secure a capital receipt, which will support the County Council’s Medium Term Financial Strategy.
The bid selected represents best value to the Council compared with the other bids received.

27/01/2025 - No Waiting at Any Time Restrictions on Parsons Lane, Hinckley ref: 15648    Recommendations Approved

The County Council is proposing no waiting at any time restrictions along Parsons Lane and Mistral Close, Hinckley. Numerous concerns and complaints have been made to the County Council and County Councillor regarding obstructive parking which has also restricted waste collection services accessing the road. The proposals sought to remove parking from both sides of the road and along the footway, to improve highway safety and ensure of safe egress along Parsons Lane.

05/02/2025 - Award of contract to provide storage tanks and infrastructure for bulk oil, dispensing oil/coolant, and storage of waste oil. ref: 15685    Recommendations Approved

The requirement to provide storage tanks and infrastructure for a combination of measured pumped bulk oil into the workshop, a solution to dispensing smaller amounts of oil and coolant along with collecting and storage of waste oil until it is removed from site.

All County roads that were assigned the national speed limit had been reviewed to identify those with an accident rate that was higher than the national average. The A444 from Twycross to Atterton had been identified to have a total number of accidents above the national average.

05/02/2025 - 20mph speed limit on the following roads: Lutterworth Road, Gibbet Lane, Main Street, Bullaces Lane, Catthorpe Road and Swinford Road in the village of Shawell ref: 15683    Recommendations Approved

Shawell Parish Council requested that the speed limit through the village was reduced from 30mph to 20mph.
The County Council carried out speed surveys in Shawell and the data collected demonstrated that the speeds were conducive to a 20mph speed limit.
